We have had some really great activity on the north wing of the structure during the last week or so. The final ridge beam was raised by Jerimiah and his crew. Unfortunatly we missed the raising, but it was done the “old fashioned way” without the assistance of any modern equipment. Just Man power and a come-a-long. It looks great and we are more excited than you would think to see it sitting perfectly

The swoops have been installed and our framer Jerimiah and his crew have been working quickly to get the roof covered with OSB asap. You will notice that since we did not build the garage section with the breezeway, we were able to extend the swoop the entire length of the house. We have also had a few pieces of trim go up with one paticular curved piece that accents the swoop which looks just perfect to us. Bird boxes are being framed, and that little overhang problem I had has been taken care of.

With huge excitment we took delivery of the Swoop trusses. Each was carried carfully down the hill along with the trusses for the north bedroom dormer.

A very good day on the site today. The second roof section has started to go up. This section is really just a shell for now covering the old portion of the fishing shack.

Made an unfortunate discovery today. Somewhere in the planning stage the rafter tails were changed from 24″ to 18″. Waiting for the estimate, on the change order. Not a lot of noticeable progress today, but it was a beautiful fall day.

The framers have returned today and got quite a bit of the roof covered with the OSB panels that were hauled down last week.
What a difference. Here are the pic’s from today.

I have had a difficult time adding the new sketches of our plan. But I was able to get this one in. We have received permit approval for the roof section over the living/dinning area.
I really wanted to remain faithful to the original plan, but we did end up making a couple of changes. The first change is on this side. Instead of the big curved window unit, we are using a french door with a Juliet balcony. I have kept the overall shape the same, and I think it will work better for us.

The framers have been on another job for a few days, but I hope to see them on Monday again. Yesterday a load of 8/8 posts to hold up the living/dining section were delivered. Also 140 OSB boards were delivered and had to be carried down to the site. Husband and kids exausted…..

The framers were here the last couple of days and have just about finished the main roof area. I hear they will move to another job for the rest of the week.
